Privacy policy
In short
Minara has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your settings stay on your device. Your location is only used to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction.
Location
When you tap “Use my location”, Minara asks your device for your approximate position. The coordinates are saved on your device and sent to:
- AlAdhan, to get the prayer times for that place.
- BigDataCloud, to show the name of your town (only when you use your location).
If you search for a city instead, the text you type is sent to Open-Meteo to find matching places. You can change or remove your location at any time in Settings. These services receive the request like any website would (including your IP address) and are covered by their own privacy policies.
Compass
The Qibla screen reads your device's compass sensor. This data is used on the device only and is never sent anywhere.
Notifications
Azan reminders are scheduled on your device. No notification data passes through a server.
Data stored on your device
Your language, theme, location, calculation settings, tasbih counts and saved prayer times are stored on your device only. Deleting the app (or clearing the website's data) removes them.
Security
Minara has no login, no database and no server code that could be broken into. Every connection uses HTTPS, the website sends strict browser security rules (such as a Content-Security-Policy and HSTS), and no outside scripts or trackers are loaded.
Children
Minara does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date.
